“We will implement Quick Win policies that yield tangible results within four months, coupled with building upon existing strong foundations. The first urgent policy is to alleviate the suffering of the public from unemployment, a widespread problem currently caused by the changing labor market due to technological advancements, particularly AI. This has resulted in significant job losses for skilled, middle, and lower-level workers. Therefore, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) will provide Upskill and Reskill training for the public. Universities and regional science parks nationwide will organize Upskill and Reskill programs in urgently needed areas that meet the demands of the labor market. This will give experienced workers the opportunity to develop and enhance their skills to align with the modern labor market and re-enter the workforce. Importantly, MHESI will leverage funding agencies such as Ted Fund, the National Innovation Agency (NIA), and regional science parks to support incubation, funding, and business development. This will enable experienced workers to become SMEs or startups, in addition to re-entering the workforce. Simultaneously, MHESI aims to ensure that students and the public have widespread access to AI technology within four months,” Mr. Surasak stated.
